Hello fellow professionals,

I'm currently facing a challenging scenario that involves the integration of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on roofs with complex geometries, including varying slopes and multiple obstructions like skylights and HVAC units. The project aims not only to maximize energy generation but also to maintain the architectural integrity and aesthetic of these high-end residential properties.

One of the main hurdles is ensuring that the solar panel layout achieves optimal sun exposure while navigating around the roof's unique features. Additionally, we're looking to implement a solution that allows for easy maintenance and future roof work without compromising the solar installation's efficiency or safety.

Given the complexity of roof structures we're dealing with, I'm seeking advice on:

  1. Best practices for mapping and installing solar panels on irregular roof designs.
  2. Recommendations for mounting systems that offer flexibility for complex roof landscapes.
  3. Strategies for integrating solar systems with existing roofing materials to ensure long-term durability and weather resistance.
I would greatly appreciate any insights, experiences, or resources you could share on tackling these challenges. Collaboration with structural engineers and solar specialists is underway, but additional expert perspectives would be invaluable.

Crikey that sounds really complicated…. Never fitted Solar but would be interested how you get on … with pics if you can & good luck😎
