VAT rate changes?

I came across this story on bbc website BBC News - UK to fight energy product ruling

wondering whether anyone on here knew whether the rate has changed on energy products, is going to change or might change?

If they're going to force another 15% on the price to the customer then its goodnight vienna.

having read the article it would appear that at present the rate is staying at5% until they meet the commission in court early next year.

Says vat rate on energy saving materials for charities will be standard rate from 1st August 2013 and they are trying to put a case together to allow 5% rate to remain for domestic property installations although EC disagrees with UK government.
