I’m changing a outside light for a ring floodlight, when I’ve taken the existing light off it reveals a brown, yellow and blue wire. I’m assuming the brown is live, blue neutral and yellow earth?? Just confused as I expected a yellow and green for earth??? Can anyone advise??? Thanks

Can only ask what the yellow was being used as before?
Certainly sounds strange as the green/yellow should have a minimum ratio between the two colours

a picture would help.

could it be red, yellow and blue,
with brown tape or sleeve over the red cable?

Are you sure they’ve used that core as the Earth? As above pics help no end, strip back a bit of outer sleeve and see if the cpc has been cut back...
