Flakey

Hi,
Im looking to sign up with XS training to do NVQ 2356 before the last enrollment deadline of the 31st of december.
I got an email from them with regards to the course asking if i want to do it in electrical maintenance or electrical installation.
I thought the 2356 was a stand alone that would require you to cover aspects of installation as well as maybe maintenance. my objective in gaining the nvq would be to help towards becoming an approved contractor.
Would someone be able to enlighten me on this. Also which one would be more realistic to complete as i work in mainly domestic and commercial settings

many thanks again

James

i think its all changed since i last did mine, all the numbers have change, and i think you have to do the am2, you may find the dead line date is when they may have to do the am2 as well for the 5356 lvl 3

I don't think you have to do the AM2 because you have to cover three different jobs where as apprentices have to cover two different jobs and then the AM2 which cover the third part of the NVQ. Please correct me if I'm wrong though. The best people to speak to would be XS Training themselves.

Thats why im trying to get on it as you can bypass the am2. not looking for a shortcut just dont see the point if i cover most of the criteria in my daily work and as part of the 2356.
Still what is the difference between the 2356 electrical maintenance and 2356 electrical installtion with regards to becoming an approved contractor? the areas a little grey as i thought nvq 2356 was a stand alone!

Cheers!

James
