Hi Guys
I wonder if someone with more experience of PV might be able to give me some advise.
Was called out today to a domestic building with a remote barn on which a 4kW PV array is sited. The Inverter is in the barn and a long (50m) 2.5mm twin and earth in pipe (historic) feed back to the...
Went to change a light for a local estate agent today, No cpcs to the lighting circuit would i right right if i said the circuits would have to be rewired?
Have justed looked at a job to replace the consumer unit and it appears that both the final ring circuits ( Kitchen and the rest of the Flat ) have Radial CPC's. The flat is wired in multicore Singles and Plastic Conduit , has anyone come across this type of design before. Both "ring circuits"...
My adiabatic maths says that for a 16mm main conductor, assumed Ze of 0.2, 80A 88:3 CPD, k as 115.... the earth only needs to be 3.16mm therefore the 6mm in a 6242YH 16mm is more than sufficient.
Anyone disagree?
Been asked to change a consumer unit
On inspection found out that customer had done much of the work himself - approx 20 years ago
Currently has old Wylex NN Board
Ring Mains & Kitchen appear OK - T&E
Lights have no cpc, except for a couple with metal fittings.
The lights with metal...

When doing a CU change and lights have no cpc. Every room has class 2 dimmers and lights. ceilings are like 20 foot tall. How would you guys go about Insulation testing? L&n to cpc ain't an option and removing all lights and bypassing dimmers is consequently going to take some time... What would...
Is permissable to extend the earth conductor in t/e by soldering? I have a job where all the earths in a small extension have been cut off (lighting only) . Not really enough cable to get a through crimp on and rewire is out of the question.
Hi all just done pre site survey on a job found the following (never come across this before)
2 ccu's in the property 1 located next to the incoming head (A) and the other (B) is located approx 15 meters away
Both CCu's are feed via henley block. (A) tails are 25mm however the cable feeding...
Today I turned up at a job today, to install some downlights and a mirror feed in a bathroom. A nice relatively easy job ..... or so I thought. The owner had been warned that the circuit would need to be RCBO protected and had his "usual" sparky in to do this....
So I took the "futhest"...

Hi Guys,
Just been to do a Condition report on a 30 year old installation. Both lighting circuits are wired in twin stranded steel cable with no CPC. The insulation test is good, but with the lack of CPC, and brass accessories, would you consider this as 'Satisfactory'. No RCD on lighting...
