Hi Forum,
At the ripe old age of 42 I have decided that I would like to re-train as an electrician. Yawn, another one they say. Based on the understanding that I've got at least another 25 years work in me, it doesn't feel too late to make a change.
Obviously, considering my age, I am looking...
All,
I have had a battery back up unit installed for warehouse lighting for the emergency lighting.
It has stopped working and the investigation was found to be a short circuit that affected the unit.
However after being informed by the designer that both the positive and negative connections...

Situation is there's some 53 year old pyro cable that I need to either remove, or make dead, or cut short and push back into the wall having ensured that the still-live end cannot short out the circuit or come into contact with anything.
No hope of fully removing it, as it goes up the cavity...

Hello. I have a new kitchen going in with a island in the middle. A 10mm t&e (protected by a 40A mcb) has been laid under kitchen floor for the hob that's going on it. No other cables can be run to it now. Trouble is I would now like two double sockets on it.
Can this be done? I thought...
Hi, I'm newly qualified 17th Edition Part P, looking to do some Domestic Work. I've done my share of DIY and have some industrial experience from being ex forces but haven't tackled much since. I'm sure I'll have some silly questions :dizzy2: from time to time but looking forward to getting to...
Has anyone any views on max Zs for say a type c 32a rcbo at 80% is 0.54 and 100% 0.68. I am currently testing a collage and all ring circuits are type c and I am exceeding 0.54 and 0.68 this is a TNCS system so to my knowledge table 41.5 in regs which tells us 1667 for 32a rcbo for TT systems...

Hey everyone. Bit of a silly noob question.
On my dirt bike, as I was tightening the positive battery terminal lead(it was loose), the allen key slipped and hit against the subframe causing a short and sparks everywhere, and causing the allen key to be extremely hot to touch.
It was only for a...

Hello All,
I've been call to a small chapel as the power goes on and off once or twice a week.
Cable is a 50mm 4C fed from a 100A 6kA MCCB 50-60m away. 4pole RCD in Chapel.
Load on each phase is about 20-35A when the A/C kicks in so MCCB and cable OK for that.
IR at 500V Fluke 1653B. Results...

Hi,
I need a short height 6 way consumer unit around 200mm total external height or less, in order to fit above a doorway. It is replacing an existing bs 1361 fusebox.
Can be RCD as I expect rcbos to be ruled out due to being taller anyway.
Any ideas? Not even sure if such a beast exists, may...
