Hi everyone,

I have been asked to pull in some new 3 phase supplies for 7 new welders which do not require a neutral connection.

The client has specifically asked for them to be plug and play and rcd protected, which is fine as they are under 32amps.

I will be running in 5 core swa's for future proofing, but in regards to RCD protection, has anyone fitted the 3Phase RCCB from Doepke which dosnt require a neutral?

I suppose the three phase voltages will have a sum of zero.

The RCD looks at any current imbalance between the cables routed though it, if N is not used then no current so it matters not from a sensing point of view if it is fitted or not. But sometimes the test button might need N, though many 4P RCD go L-L to avoid that situation.

However, fitting 3P+N+E is just far more future-proof !
