Discuss 8.5Kw Shower Tripping in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

This is all I can find for now I think the newer wylex fuse boards with 100amp switches will take more than 30 amp fuses.
Wylex Standard 6 way fusebox with brown wooden frame

posibly the metal clad units will safely take the 45 amp plug in mcb s but certainly the brown units were never designed for the big loads

I see which ones your on about now but really does leave a nasty taste in the mouth that one can purchase a fuse designed to fit the old BS3036 yet it shouldn't be used on the old wooden frames 60amp rated.
Having said that anyone fitting a shower should be pricing for a board upgrade or at least discussing it with the customer as getting rcd protection would be required as per manufacturers instructions in the new shower - regardless of whether the old one had protection or not.

We have to assume their is no RCD considering the age of the dist' board coupled with the disappearance of the OP..... he's still there lurking about this thread but unless he tells us otherwise we can assume hes avoiding an onslaught of negative response when he acknowledges our concerns ;)

Also considering he's an Electrical Engineer qualified to the 16th he may require a bit of catching up as his knowledge of regulations is possible several yrs out of date.
