Discuss ARE WE BEING RE-DIRECTED ? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hackers are a sneaky lot, no doubt they've sussed it and done a workaround. I just can't imagine why they'd be interested in our little part of the internet?

As I said in another thread... it only takes a tiny response rate to make it worth their while. If you're hitting lots of forums and say posting 10 million messages a day, a 0.1% response rate is 10k.

And if they aren't after direct sales, they could be trying to manipulate the Google page rank to get their sites higher on the search results pages.

This site gets a lot of hits page 1 of Googles search results if you look for electrical information, so it's a good candidate for being hit up.

When I first joined this forum, every single post I made had to be checked by a moderator, before it actually posted.

Just switch back to that system until a permanent fix is found, surely?
Unfortunately not very practical, unless you would be happy to trawl through each and every post yourself, if you see my point. The software can do certain checks, but as been mentioned any loop holes will be found.

Wouldn't be each and every post though, just the first post of new accounts.

I see the korean chinese spammers are back en masse....
Could you look at using the captcha type thing where you have to enter text that is displayed in a image before posting? Would help defeat bots...

I have had,and will always have, the same view,on the technology involved.
If one man can make it - another can un-make it :)

(...and when i say man,i quite obviously include all persons,male,female,non-gender specific, and those who choose to identify as a hat-stand,or bullrush,or ....you get it...)

But not for regulars (members of the Arms, TAs, staff etc.) otherwise it will be a right mare.
