Hi all
Hope your well, my metrel finally packed up today and after ringing metrel uk for a repair price (£169 plus vat) I've decided to get myself a new kit. I've been looking through tester mans site and the megger mft1710 and the kewtech kt63 look decent testers and within my price range, has anybody got either of these testers and can please let me know they're thoughts. Also if anyone has any other mft that they recommend within the price range of £600 inc vat. Many thanks

I use a megger 1552. My old boss had the megger 1730 and had quite a few issues with it. The 1552 seemed much more reliable. I have read that the kewtechs had issues with the selector switch/dial so sure about them personally.

Be careful with the 1710 because they will soon be discontinued, my wholesaler is flogging his last few as quick as he can ready for a new model to come out.

Cheers lads
My metrel has been pretty reliable and lasted 4 good years, I've been looking at the meggers but there is a lot of concerns about them packing up, also been looking at the fluke 1652c or the kewtech kt63 need to make a decision ASAP so any help would be great cheers

I'm looking to get a new MFT also.

What do you guys reckon to the Megger MFT 1711? How does it compare to the 1721?

Cheers

The three-phase enabled MFT1721 provides all of the functions available on the MFT1711, but additionally has a 100 V insulation test option, a millivolt sensor input and support for testing Type B RCDs. It allows phase rotation to be checked, and it can test three-phase RCDs even when no neutral is available. Phase-to-phase loop testing at 415 V can be performed, along with evaluation of prospective short-circuit current (PSCC) values of up to 20 kA.
