I need to fit new shower unit and the manufacturer states it needs to be protected by its own rcd,if I’ve read it right, would 40amo mcb and the existing 30ma main switch suffice?

Not 100% sure they are compatible for the Series E but if they are that CU has quite a restricted height. As Andy says the true Series E were two module.

If you are going to attempt to fit an rcbo in that board you still have the rcd main switch and hence you have no selectivity (new 18th Ed word:D). You may as well fit an mcb and use the rcd of the main switch, fitting a 40A rcbo which may not be compatible along with 10.0 cable, assuming this is the size you will use will be a mare to fit into that board.

Hum .... Why do you need a rcbo if the board already has this protection in place?

If you aren't convinced ring your scheme?

Thanks for all the advice, believe it or not cef own brand MCG do fit in but yes very tight,I’m not a fan of mix n matching brands, thanks telectrix I think I’m going to recommend a new board.
Haven’t seen any of the 18th yet westward, selectivity?

so now I'm not discriminatory to other trades, I' m selective. does that mean i can select which goes into the electric chair first, wet-pants or muck spreader?
