Hi Guys, some advice would really help me:

Bedroom ceiling light keeps blowing bulbs so I have taken it down to fit new, however,,
wiring has me a bit confused, Ignoring the earths I have a 3 core & a 2 core cable,
3 core cable
A/ Red--------------------Permanently live
B/ Blue--------------------
C/ Yellow-----------------Live when wall switch on
2 core cable
D/ Red-------------------
E/ Blue------------------

The live red A/ is connected by a separate block to blue wire E/

The blue wire B/ is connected in the pendant block with red wire D/

Yellow wire C/ goes to other pendant connection

This I presume is a loop type lighting circuit but I am confused by the red to blue scenario ???

Would this be causing a problem?

Thanks in advance

what wires are in the wall switch!

There is a 3 core cable & a 2 core cable

Reds from both are joined into one side of switch
yellow from the 3 core goes to other side of switch
Black from the 2 core is in a seperate connector with the blue from 3 core

I have ignored the earths

Ask a stupid question get a stupid answer lol
Ah, I see what you meant now :)

From what your saying on the switch:
Red from pendant in with the yellow.
Two reds from 2core and 3core together
and all blacks and blues together

But from what I can remember you saying the cables weren't like that when you took them down so I would suggest calling an electrician :)

If I could find an electrician to come out now I would :)

This is the switch

At the switch you appear to have a live and neutral incoming
You then have a 3 core to the light, red permanent live, yellow swutched live and blue neutral

At the light, the yellow to the lamp holder live, blue to lamp holder neutral
The other red and black will most likely be a live and neutral out to another fitting

It could also be vice versa with the supply
The supply live and neutral brought into the rose and extended down to the switch using the 3 core

The connection that doesn't add up is the red connected to the black

Be prepare to pay a spark who will sort it easily
They dont cost much compared to other trades and are worth every penny when you have problems such as these,by the way, you will be paying for his knowledge not necesarilly the time it takes to fix
