Discuss Changes to FIT coming sooner that we thought! in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Thats a disgrace if that happens, cant see it as the industry would be destroyed in an instant. Dont understand the tosh about 3 months of 43p then the rest of it at 20p, didnt make sense really.

The other countries mentioned have cut their tariffs for large systems not house holds, hate how they refer to other countries but never tell the full story.

It's looking very risky now for people wanting an install as it's saying if all paperwork isn't in place by the 8th December then the FIT will be 21p for that householder.
I wonder how many companies mention this to potential clients?

Well the 8th is 6 weeks today. Hope all your paperwork is in place before then otherwise you'll possibly get the new 21p FiT :(

Taken from fact sheet:

Example
Mr Smith has PV installed on his house on 1 December 2011. His application for FITs is received by his electricity supplier on 15 December 2011. This means that Mr Smith would be affected by the UK Government‟s proposals. He would be eligible for the current tariffs from 15 December 2011 – the eligibility date - until 31 March 2012. From 1 April 2012 he would receive the lower tariff for the remainder of the 25 years FIT support.

Exactly, there isnt enough time for the market to adapt and thats what i find strange. Also how can they set a date when the final consultation hasnt finished, more smoke?

We have three booked in for december, only one has given a deposit and may be able to bring this one forward, the rest are dead in the water, good while it lasted, PV UK RIP

How long does it normally take for the FiT certificate to be received and processed By the energy supplier after the install has been completed?

if an industry cant make a profit without subsidies then it aint a business,we had nationalised industry's where it was for the good of all the people but pv doesnt fall into that category to me.also if this has happend this quick whats going to happen in 10-20 yrs time..its going to be worthless bits of glass on a roof

This is all still mere speculation. I am waiting until there's an official announcement before I strap myself up with explosives and book a one way ticket to Westminster.

The market needs investment to get self substaining and cost effective. Suspose other alternative is to increase your taxes to pay for the ÂŁ500m wind and tidal projects then again there not profit making either without the government paying for them.

Check the Energy Savings Trust website - even I am thinking this may well be true. Installation deadline 8th December. Mad panic so let's hope it does not snow.
