Have any of you ever tried to help a customer get compensation from another spark who left a shoddy job? Customer out £1,500 for a part rewire, no certificate and spark not prepared to finish the job or pay back any money.
Obviously called after the fact, so not sure what has gone on. They want a report etc from me and then they plan to get a lawyer involved. I just don't fancy being up in court and would hate to be on the other side of it. I could just imagine a niceic inspection and being pulled up for not using round head screws or something equally daft.
what is wrong with it
if it was only part done why would you have paper work
If the client isn't happy, their first call should be to the other sparkies scheme.
If it transpires they aren't a scheme member then they are on their own and the only winners would be the lawyers!
have to say does not sound good but can only be signed off when complete (they do not have a leg to stand on as he did not sign off)no cross bonding to gas meter
no grommets in boxes
no earth at two switches and fittings
damaged cable in one switch
no grommets in junction box under the floor
no mains smoke dector
no RCBOs to lighting circuits
Overall building job was stopped and spark was paid for the work he had completed ie the lighting, ring main and kitchen was as yet untouched but was due to be started. I think if there was a dispute with a builder on a site I could issue a cert for work done in order to get paid and leave the dispute to the other parties if my work was fine.
