Cooker cabling advice

Existing 10Amp cooker is fed by 6mm from main consumer unit (32A MCB) to cooker switch then 6mm fed to a 13Amp double socket, off that is one plug for supply to cooker and one plug for igniter for gas hob.

I have a 16Amp rated oven coming and would like to install a 45Amp rated cooker plate and keep existing double socket for gas igniter. Will be replacing MCB in consumer unit to 20Amps.

I am guessing the cooker cabling is done in a radial so my question is from new 45Amp cooker plate shall I just wire a cable from this to existing socket also in 6mm or can I reduce this cable size from 45Amp plate to socket???

That all sounds fine, as long as you're having the entire circuit on a 20a MCB you can feed the socket for gas hob ignition with 2.5mm cable from the incoming terminals on the cooker outlet. But as it's only a 16a rated oven you could fit a 'dual' surface box with a 20amp outlet plate and single socket, the link would be within the same box so all nice and tidy.

The MCB is there to protect the cable. Leave CU as it is.

Swop your socket for a connection plate and wire the oven in. That’s it.

Yeah, but what about his gas hob that is plugged into that socket for its ignition?
