Disconnecting circuit in CU - best practice?

Hi all,

I'm in the process of renovating the bathroom. There is an electric shower I have removed and won't replace. The cable is not practical to remove.

To make this redundant circuit safe, what is the best way to cap off in the CU? I plan to label it too, both in the CU and at the other end in the loft. This end originally ran to the isolator in the bathroom, which is now removed. The final couple metres cable from the isolator to where the shower was, is deep in the wall so can this just be cut back and buried?

Someone else said to terminate the old cable to earth bus in the CU but I've never actually seen that done before, having looked at many CUs in older properties with redundant circuits..

If the end is left in the CU, the live conductors should be made safe, but the earth wire still connected. Other end should also be made safe, by termination in joint box.

If the cable is removed from the CU, not need for any termination IMO. However, you never know when this cable might come in handy, and perhaps left so it can easily be reused.

What would you normally cap the lives with? Just terminal blocks and label?

Inside CU seems easiest place to leave it, but don't want stuff floating around in there.

Out of interest what are the white cables for, as its a newer CSU I guess its to do with the breakers?

I'd leave the cable connected to the mains, let the plumber find it..........

Then disconnect it.

You could have at least folded the live conductors so they were all the same height

neat board westie. i'd have used a BG with compact RCBOs. no earth flyleads either.
