Guys i'm doing an EICR at the minute. Do hand dryers for public use require RCD protection? Wired in singles in earthed steel pipe, no bath or shower in the room........

Shouldnt be coded at all if it's not a requirement of 7671....this is why EICR's vary so much,electricians introduce personal opinions when the ONLY criterior is whether it complies onr not.

Doesn't manufactures instructions/recommendations not come in to it??
Depends on the type of installation, I would avoid RCD protection on fixed equipment at all cost, however if TT for just one example then it would need it, whats the earthing arrangements and whats the zs reading?Guys i'm doing an EICR at the minute. Agreed, I missed the earthed metallic pipe bit!, IF its in a bog not a bathroom, NO code could reasonably be given other then an observation.
haha thionk more of 'room containing bath or shower' i.e. changing rooms etc.Can't remember ever seeing one in a bathroom.
