Hi

I'm replacing an old double oven that had a fixed connection to a DP SFCU.
The new oven is rated up to 4.8kW/ 20A on the spec.

I was thinking of just purchasing some 4mm T&E and sleeve the CPC at both ends and connect it to the SFCU where the old oven was.

As I don't know what the old oven was rated at, I was thinking that I should make sure that the FCU suitable for the new load.

What should it be fused at to be suitable? Is my cable choice OK? (It was recommended in the manual).

Thanks,
David

Hi David - welcome to the forum !

If your new oven is rated at 20A by the manufacturer, then it's not suitable for the fcu which will be rated to 13A. So it's plan b ...

What circuit is the existing FCU on - and what is the mcb rating please?

I'll check both the MCB and what circuit it's own when I get back to the property tomorrow night. I have a feeling that it actually might be it's own circuit.
If it is, do I need a FCU at all if the MCB is rated at 32A?

That would be spoiling the story! Let's have the plot develop, post a pic or two etc. Check if there is a cooker switch and is the fcu on that circuit. :)

Hehe ok. I'll get all the info and report back :) I might even be wrong about the FCU itself (I thought I saw a fuse there when the guy who took the old oven away opened it but it might just be a switch).

If the new oven came with a 13A plug on it, then its ok to use a 13A supply - if it didn't it needs a dedicated supply..........
