The problem with this approach is that electricity is still very cheap during peak periods (relatively speaking) compared with the amount of money people have.I thought the smart metering and multiple tariffs etc would be doing the job of smoothing out the demand curve
It works great for people like me who have made it almost a 'hobby' of reducing the amount and cost of electricity that we use... but I fear that for the majority of the general public, saving £1 a day won't make the slightest difference... even if they know what it's costing them.
We need to make the price differential far greater... but then of course there'll be uproar in the media ! The BBC and Ch4 will make a series of documentaries about how 'unfair' it is, riots similar to the poll tax ones etc. etc....
