Extend SWA to consumer unit

Hi guys. I have an old out building that has been knocked down and in it’s place an extension is being built. The old out building had a ring and a lighting circuit with water heater for a shower all fed From a ccu that came from the main house through 10mm swa. The extension is now going to be fed from this same ccu. However I want to move the original position of the ccu. Can I extend this SWA? And how??

Hi - yes SWA may be extended, but you probably will benefit from the on site help of an Electrician. SWA is a specialised cable and there are a few skills to getting it glanded correctly.

As above, the electrician doing the electrical work will have no problem extending the SWA.

Yes, resin joint, or wiska box a picture would be handy for better options

Given a choice I'd definitely go with the above ground accessible for maintenance junction box.

Assuming it is 3-core 10mm SWA then something like this (if 2-core they reccommend the S6 kit):

But you have to read and follow the instructions carefully. Really I would not plan on doing your first resin joint for a "it matters" buried location...

Hi guys. Sorry it’s overground. Going to have ccu one side of corridor now she what’s it other side of the corridor. As you can see in picture. SWA is on the right where ccu was going to go and cables on the left where ccu is now wanted. SWA not long enough to feed other side of corridor.

Extremely simple job. It is concerning.

Surely it can be pulled back and channeled through the floor then back up the wall?

Grinder , small chase , get in in the floor and up the opposite wall.
