Fitted a couple of optical smokes today and got a ferrite tube in the packs, bumf said to put the wires to the plug through tube and secure 30mm away from plug connector. I just wondered what this is for? Any ideas...
 
They put them on smoke alarms to stop them interfering with your and your neighbours tv.

i was fitting one for a family that where hard of hearing and I took the ferrite tube off, it was incredibly good at messing with their tv when off

not sure what the neighbours think tho
 
They were senate's own brand sector. They weren't all that, they diddnt fit well on the base, although they were fitted on there correctly.
