Discuss Good Agency Labour in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Does anyone happen to know of any agencies that happen to supply half decent electricians, or any agencies they could recommend?. Ideally i'd like to avoid using agencies, as 95% of the labour they supply is terrible. But needs must. Thanks

What qualifies you to say that?

Considering about 90% of all construction labour in the country is agency supplied I think that's harsh.
In the past agencies have supplied me to companies. Pay your money, take your chance.

Maybe review your selection procedures? I know tons of bloody good electricians who rely on agency work who you'd take on in a heartbeat.

I have worked with and employed a lot of agency staff. I would suggest 25% are good, 25% are okay and 25% need supervision, the other 25% are dead heads, to suggest 95% of all electricians who have been employed by an agency "terrible" is just plain wrong. I suppose you will be one of the 5% who are not terrible then?

Do you know any other electrical contractors in your area? If so give one or two a bell and ask them if they have a sub contract labour list as you need some help, I have done that in the past, they usually help, and they have also phoned me back asking the same at other times as well.

Well slagging off 95% of all electricians is hardly going to endear you to people is it?
Try ringing Scott Gilmour at Vital Resources in Newcastle and asking for his counterpart in your area. Then try Scott McGill at Reeds in Manchester to ask the same.
Good luck

i've done agency work in the past and have found that MDJ's assessment is close. however, some of the sparks that i've worked with who were directly employed by the company, were, to be kind, complete d!cks. one of them actually cut through the insulation of my VDE sidecutters. in return, he found a slashed tyre on his astra van at 5pm friday.

Fantastic. You have been a huge help. Stop trolling, its a Friday.
I have just given you some advice, it is not trolling, I gave you the benefit of the doubt and gave some help, it is genuine help, It does work, in my area a lot of electrical contractors help each other out by giving each other sub contract labour telephone numbers, what is trolling about that then?

Right, Take a step back and re-read my post. As clearly you need to. I'm well aware there are decent electricians that work through agencies, i said 95% of electricians i have dealt and worked with through agencies do not fall into that category!

OK I've re read the first one and I found this line
"as 95% of the labour they supply is terrible"
However, you've put it right so let's forget about that :)

The above would be trolling pal.

No I was asking if you were apparently one of the 5% who is not terrible, your first post was just plain wrong, you made yourself look a right numpty, still you have corrected that now so for the time being we can move on lol

This is hard work.

MDJ. Do you class yourself to be in that 5%? I get the feeling you're one of these electricians that are never wrong?

what a spiffing idea.

There used to be a lad from down your neck of the woods used to get on a here a lot. Guitarist, real name Tim.
A nice guy, great guitarist (I've seen some of his youtube vids) and a damned good electrician. Why don't you PM him, you might be able to help each other out.

I could recommend a very good agency.

With your attitude I’m not having you call them, a family run company and personal friends, I intend it to stay that way.
That said you probably wouldn’t pay for quality so that’s two strikes against you.

He probably only wants to pay peanuts so he only gets monkeys 95% of the time !!!!!

As for trolling someone with 18 posts in 11 months makes me wonder if there is some Friday night boredom on the OP's part

Tony, the only person with an attitude problem is you. You always seem to pop up on this forum with the intention of putting people down. You don't know me, or what we're willing to pay, so don't make assumptions you idiot. I get that you're retired and have nothing to do, hence the time spent on this forum trolling. I suggest taking up golf. You seem like you suffer with anger issues.

What purpose does you're response serve? I have given no indication of rates, or said anything at all about pay. So you're making an assumption out of nothing. This thread is so ironic. People moaning because I've stated my opinion on 95% of agency labour, yet there's people on here forming opinions over a forum post. Who don't know, have never worked with me. And no absolutely nothing about me. Unbelievable, what a waste of time.
