Join me at my Aunts house, had do do a repair to an old brass toggle switch that hidden a wooden pattress with the switch screwed to the back of it.That's fascinating, I'd love to replicate an install from that period with all the old accessories, those old switches must have been fiddly though with the little holes for the cables in the wooden pattress having to line up exactly with the switch terminals.

On the lighting diagram, notice the main supply and final circuit neutrals are fused. I think the book is from 1947

Yes I know Tel, but when I was brought up we weren't rich enough to have those sorts of coinsyou missed out florins, sovs, guineas, and groats.
Got out of puff to have a puff then Telremember my maternal grandfather came looking for us when my dad and stepmother came back from honeymoon and we weren't there. he came on a bicycle like Granville had on Open All Hours. sit up and beg, with a stunningly advanced Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub. we were swimming in the clay pit. I was 11 and my sister 9. the snowflakes would have fatal orgasms over that these days, esp.as 2 kids had drowned there a month before. 2 years later, we both swam the Rhine ( approx. 1 mile wide) from Switzerland into Germany, as smokes were a bit cheaper . happy days.
