Hello all,

First post here :)

i have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee which I just bought and which I love. However it doesn't have auto lights, only auto rain (which is less useful!).

If I leave the headlights in dipped beam position and turn off the car ignition then after 5 min the car switches the dipped beams off and switches on the parking lights along with rear lights. They will keep on until the battery is drained. If I leaved the car with parking lights on then again they just stay on.

pretty rubbish as I prefer to drive with at least parking lights on due to living in the countryside.

so what are my options to force the buggers to turn off when I pull the key?

ideally I'd like to be able to leave the lights in parking light setting on the stalk and know that when I kill the ignition the lights will be killed.

ive seen day light runNing relays advertised on Amazon that appear to do this or do I need something else?

any advice would be appreciated

It might be a bad idea to automatically kill the lights when the ignition is turned off. There are a few situations where you'll want them left on.

It might be better to install a 'lights on alarm', which sounds a buzzer when the driver's door is opened and the lights are on. A Google search shows various configurations and options.
