Just thinking about selling MFT's and single test equipment. The idea being I buy stuff from Ebay and sell it on ebay, which I am doing at the moment. It is working quite well. I think this is because I know my way around testers and know what I am buying and have a reasonable sense of value/usefulness. There is a lot of good stuff out there at fair prices that could turn a profit. I am doing this as I am retired and earning a few pennies to buy me beer.
I got to thinking about the many enquiries on here for buying test equipment and thought maybe I could be of service in that I could supply equipment bought on ebay to those who are just starting out and have not much of a clue as to what they are buying and the values of same.
I have a Megger 7671/2 calibration box that checks the voltage/amps of loop tests and IR tests as well as RCD parameters. Although I know it does not replace calibration (UKAS) proper it is a good indication and shows up any obvious defects. It forms a tentative basis on ensuring that at least you are not getting a lemon.
Just playing with the idea at the moment, thought I would put it out here to see what others thought. Maybe its a bad idea or maybe it isnt. At least if you are new to the game and want to "play" around with testing you would at least know you are getting something that works and is of value.
