Hi ElectriciansForums.net,

We have a new Ikea SKURUP light i'd like to fit, I have replaced an old ceiling rose but there are two sets of wires coming from the ceiling. I have connected it up as the booking says but the light now doesn't want to switch off from the wall? Can anyone give me some advice to how to connect this correctly?

What have you done with the browns?
they don’t look like they’re in any kind of connector.

is that how the old rose was connected? The browns together but not to the pendant.... the two blues on each core of the flex?

? That’s why you are not allowed to touch elastic trickery ! That looks VERY dangerous from the photo - it could be last leg of the lighting circuit - would need to see how the switch is wired too. But, as I’m sure others are thinking - get a professional in for your own safety. Yes, it will cost you £50 or so but could save your life!!!
