hi all,

I just took off a light from my lounge wall hoping to replace it, but i'm going from a double light to a single, and there are 2 feeds for each previous light.

How should I best cover the old wires I no longer need? I looked at plastic caps but there isn't enough depth in the wall cavity to put these around the wires.

thanks

trace the cables back to under the upstairs floor. cut and join with wagos in an enclosure. don't leave live cables in a wall, going to nothing. alternatively, where the light was, fit a knock-out box and blank plate.

a bit late, but i've been on beer. how about a photo?

pictures - hope they help!??? thanks v much for replies thus far.

jeez. what a mess. how many T/E's are there, 2 or 3? i'd be inclined to cut out for a single 25mm box. tidy it all up, connect with wagos ( or line products connectors, then fit a blank faceplate. that also give you the option of fitting a light in the future if required.

Agree with tel. Chop out a box and fit a blanking plate, if the cables can't be removed completely. Alternatively make it surface mount.
That's DIY work by the looks of it.

unsure what you mean about T/E Tel, but there are 6 wires in total, 3 for each original light. TBH in my capacity as knowing nothing about electricity, I thought it was rather tidy! 2 feeds for 2 lights all tightly joined in a tiny plastic junction box thing! :)

it's OK. i just gave him a price he can't refuse.
