I'm sorry guys but I have brought a stain onto our reputation, I have ... wait! it's difficult for me to say this, I have!.............................................gone to the Plumber forum for advice and asked a question :(... there said it.

I hope you can all forgive me as this is a difficult time and I am trying to adjust to the fact I needed there advice .

If anyone knows of any therapy session or groups that I can get involved with to help me pull through this I would be grateful.

Cheers.

Wasn't an electrical question, was it, now come on out with it, what was it all about, you'll feel better afterwards I promise.

Really sorry to hear this, DW. I can't begin to imagine what you're going through right now. My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.
Agree Steve, must have been a traumatic turn of events to make DW go cap in hand to a Plumber, like you I can't imagine the thoughts going through his mind at the time, think we ought to have few moments to reflect,

I have been looking into this and have found he has opened his boiler case which is a no-no for a a non gas safe. So he really has dropped us in it. He did the usual "it's ok I'm an electrical engineer didn't touch the gas so it's ok" and was admonished publicly on the forum. I think this needs to be referred to the CPS scheme and JIB. I will be looking into steamrollering his MFT and him doing the march of shame. What compounds this is the fact he has been talking to not just a plumber but a gas safe person or persons unknown.

Oh carp! yeh didn't check that! @darkwood out with it man what else? I suppose there are many closet forum jumpers on this forum. They lurk in the shadows pretending to be bona fide friends, you know who you are.
what's a plumber? do they have forums? do they post writing with a bog brush?

Lol - read my reply, the Irony here is I design, built and fit the systems they connect to in my job yet I cannot take a cover off because of a rule that is there to protect the DIY muppets or even stupid people of other trades.... it's stupid you cannot remove what is normally just 2 screws to wire a stat or power to a set of connectors even given you're more qualified to do so than if the plumber does it himself.

Yep! I have taken the cover off and changed an electrical part like for like with 2 push on spade connectors .. expect my house to blow up anytime soon.

bear in mind that you can do any gas work in your own house. the gas regs. only apply if you are working for a customer.if it goes bang, then it's only your house goes into the great gig in the sky.

There a hard crowd to nudge which I fully understand but at least when given advice on here we judge every member to the competence they show and their background, you do not need to hold an electrical diploma if we think you are competent to be given a little more advice than we normally would.

A very good point you make.. I might pinch that if you don't mind :)
