As you can tell by the title I have been stupid and drilled the pre cast flue for my gas fire. I am building a fake chimney breast and in my haste to put up the frame work I fixed 2 batons using plugs and screws into my class 2 pre cast flue. The holes will be hidden in the new breast anyway but what is the best way to repair this? The wall is dot and dabbed plasterboard so i can open the plasterboard to get to the holes.

Thanks

you might find that a gas flue problem will get better answers on a gas orientated forum rather than an electrical one. i could advise you to plug it, but i don't think a BS1363 plug will be of any use.

Yup, I have enough respect for silent killers to leave it to men of your calibre -grovel grovel.:winkiss:

you calling our esteemed geordie a silent killer? only when he farts, methinks.( or should i say methane) :speechless:

There is NOTHING silent about my farts as Tidyboiler will testify. On a good day - or night - I can manage a passable rendition of Colonel Bogey.

There was a time when it was still operating, I managed to get the Swing Bridge on the Tyne to open.

what happened to the bridge? did TB weigh it in?

Nope ..... It's still there & she's still wondering how to get it into her handbag.

The bridge just gets opened a cople of times a year I think just to keep it right.

Back in the day it was opening & closing all day long to let the colliers get to & from the coal staithes.

there's 3 swing bridges in northwich. rarely used. one of them operates once in a couple of years. it always breaks down and gridlocks the town.

Ours is a Billy Armstrong https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Armstrong,_1st_Baron_Armstrong job - all worked by hydraulics. He did the hydraulic machinery for Tower Bridge in London as well.

He knew a bit aboot electricery an' all. He had his own hydro electric power plant in his back garden --->> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cragside
