Discuss immersun 2 giving earth leakage tripping in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hello all,

Have just wired up a new Immersun 2; on switching the MCB supplying it, both earth leakage trips in my vconsumer unit knock off (strange as it's a split distribution setup - but BOTH trips go off). This also happens with the immersion heater disconnected from the Immersun output, ONLY mains in and the sensing clamp connected.
With the live conductor to the Immersun input removed from the MCB, I measure about 2Kohms between this live and earth - however if I ALSO remove the neutral to the Immersun from the neutral supply terminal block, the reading disappears.
SO I think it's my (very basic) meter - it is probably actually a small voltage across the live and earth on the Immersun input (with the live disconnected from mains), but ONLY when the neutral terminal is also connected to the mains neutral.
Strange! Anyone have any ideas? I know there is something between my neutral and earth because the earth trips go if I touch any neutral and earth in the house.
Any advice appreciated - it looks like a well-made unit and I would love to get it going!

if both are tripping then odds are definitely in favour of you wiring the neutral onto the wrong neutral bar in the CU.

Duh! I took it out one earth trip, in on the other! Working fine now - A BIG THANK YOU to all you above who responded - it's nice to know there is help when needed.

Regards & don't touch the brown ones...

You should have gone for s Solar iBoost as you wouldn't have got these problems then

Well with the cause of the error identified , I hope he WOULD have got those problems :)

less likely as the iboost is wired at the immersoin heater end usually, so less potential for someone getting the neutral's mixed up in the CU.

#11 your earlier post that the iboost can go at immersion location so can the immersun if you use a wireless unit that goes at the mains location
