Hi All,
I live in a building with about 100 flats and 17 garages, of which one garage is mine. Based in South London, SW2. The garage currently doesn't have electricity which is something I would like to change.

I know at least one other garage has electricity installed and this is wired from a box just outside my garage which contains a few meters (one for his garage, one for communal areas and a few others I'm unsure of).

Given there's a supply just outside my garage I believe this should be a fairly easy installation but I was wondering if anyone here would know how to best go about this, as I have never had a new meter installed before. Would it be something that is run by the managing company given it would be installed in a communal area and do I just tell my electricity company that I now have two meters?

Assuming just a simple wire in to the garage with a couple of sockets, what would something like this cost?

Thankful for any input you might be able to give.

You would need to contact the company that manages the building or your landlord if different, before making any alterations.

If it was agreed you could install an additional supply, separate from the building owners, you would need to contact your local Distribution Network Operator for a quotation.

And just because there is an existing supply nearby doesn't mean it has enough spare capacity for another garage.

The D.N.O may refuse connection or quote to upgrade the existing.
