Discuss Kitchen fused spurs in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

I'm having a new kitchen fitted... I realise it's a good idea to have accessible spurs for my appliances. Thing is I don't want the walls cluttered with spurs. Is there a maximum distance from switch to the appliance, like the idea of having the switches together, like on a grid may be.

Thanks

single socket for each appliance. the grid switches are double pole , so in case of a fault, each appliance can be isolated. make sure you use a recognised brand of grid switch.e.g.MK, some of the cheap stuff will burn out in no time.

why isolate a whole circuit if you only want to isolate 1 appliance?

Then you'd have to isolate everything, including the freezer. That's assuming the CU is even readily accessible - it could be above the front door, at the back of a cupboard, or under the stairs behind a load of old tins of paint.

Incidentally this thread is nearly 5 years old, which some people seem to object to.

that's 2 that can count. i'm impressed.:26:
Personally I don't have a problem with resurrecting old threads if the topic is still relevant, which in this case it is.
I know a lot of members hate it though; there was one moderator who went around jump-starting old threads only to close them down as soon as anyone replied; that seems like a pointless exercise.
