Hi, does anybody know of any main contractors that i could introduce my company to in order to get on their tender lists?
We are a NIC EIC approved contractor from Southampton speciallising in shopfitting installs, geograpics is not an issue as i have sub-contractors that i use all over the uk. We also do warehouse refurbs/installs. Getting feet in doors cold calling is not working very well as you normally dont get past the secretary when you call.
Any info, contact details, companies etc would be much appreciated. Its a long shot but hey, you never know.:clover:

Macker, most Main Contractors have a supply chain in place. This is a cut throat market but if you want to enter it then maybe the following may be useful to you: There are two groups you could target, local contractors and Shopfitters. This is just a matter of using Google. E mail them all asking to join their supply chain ( depending on their size you may receive prequal documents). Obviously follow up on any that respond. Depending on how much you need work the other group to target is the large Electrical Contractors. You are NICEIC, so are they, so use that angle.

Whatever group you target your best chance will be if you make personal contact, so you need to get past the secretary. Do some research ( ask around, check their websites) find the name of the Contracts Manager, Purchasing Manager, Supply Chain Manager ( it depends on the size of the organisation). Phone them, ask for them by name and try to get a meeting. Good Luck!

If you want to get into Main contractors lists where they send you tenders without you even needed to contact them then Join Chas, Exor and apply for your local authority framework list, you will soon get work then, you will also need £5,000.000 PI and CRB checked employees and you will get tenders for work for sure, it will be slow to start, but once you have done a Job or 2 and impressed the Client, word will soon get around, good luck.
