Discuss mid position valve. in the Central Heating Systems area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi guys.

I went to a job today to wire a Y plan, however the plumber brought a programmer without a DHW off terminal. He told me that he used to wire them like that and it should not be a problem

Anyway, I tried it all ways to get working properly, but I could not get the valve to port to HTNG only. I was just wondering if anybody knew of a way to get the valve to operate to HTNG only.

Wired many a Y plan, but this is the first without a programmer which has a DHW off facility.

Hope you can help.

I agree but, surely there will only be power at the C terminal of cylinder stat if the timeclock calls for it. At other times i.e only CH called for there is no power at the stat so in turn there wont be a signal out on the HW off core which means the valve wont slide to B position to enable heating only???

Yes Lenny you are quite right....on this system you would need to set the programmer to operate as HW only or CH and HW...Had a look at mine as I have a honeywell MP valve with a programmer built into the boiler...exactly that arrangement....on many programmers you can set them for separate control of HW and CH,or HW and HW/CH...you would need to set it for the latter.

Thanks lads, I am having the problem as Lenny describes, already spoken to the customer and have nipped round today and sorted it.

I may be tired poor but am exceedingly happy, who wouldn’t be, its Saturday night. And time for now time for a curry and a few pints with me bird. Oops girlfriend. Oops partner or whatever else she wants me to call her.

Cheers again lads.
