Cheques are no longer "disappearing".
It was planned a few years ago, but I believe the powers-that-be decided there would be too much cash trade if they scrapped cheques. I have spoken to a few people within the banking industry and they are definitely here to stay....at least for now

If I offered any of my customers a card terminal attached to my phone I think they would assume I was planning on cloning their card, or emptying their account at will.

MobilePOS is an app. No additional hardware needed. If a customer isn't comfortable putting in their details for payment then there are other methods
