I posted a month ago regarding a single phase motor + panel I have been given to try and sort following water damage to the panel.

The assembly is a single phase 110v brick hoisting motor and so needs wiring to allow reversing.

There is nothing to work back from as it was all disconnected but I have since gone back to this little project to see if I can get it sorted.

So the motor itself has 3 windings u1-u1, v1-v2 and z1-z2, before I continue I should say this motor is sealed with no access to terminals

u1-u2 and v1-v2 each measure 0.9ohm and z1-z2 measures 1.2ohm, therefore I identify this and the start winding and the other 2 as run windings.

There is a bank of 4 capacitors, 2 pairs wired in parallel, 1 pair being 160uf and the other being 320uf. This is where my confusion first starts because both pairs seem too high to be wired as run capacitors?

The old panel did have a motor starting relay so at least 1 pair of these capacitors does need disconnecting once the motor has ramped up.

There is no centrifugal switch, the motor starting relay serves that function.

So far I know I need to switch z1-z2, to z2-z1 for the reversing feature. I am just unsure as to whether 1 pair of capacitors is to start the motor while the other is always in circuit to offset the single phase supply to one winding considering this motor is essentially a 3 phase motor running on a single phase 110v supply.

The peripheral wiring such as the brake rectifier, limit switches and remote control im fine with, its just the capacitor side and the fact this motor has 3 windings while being in a single phase supply setup.

If anyone can shed any light, I would be very grateful.
