No unfortunately not,

it all gets used and is required, I did have an AVO 8 MK4, but this was stolen some years ago, and I did have a selection of rather more specialised bits of kit that was sold as it was no longer required.

Most of my stuff was accquired over many years as required.

Sorry mate: Think you missed the point, all my test equipment both in my Field kit & on the Bench gets used, not just for show. Test equipment junkie just has lots of Test gear;)

Ok: What I carry with me on a Daily basis: Testoscope neon, Uni-T voltage indicator, MK non contact tester, Avo 8037 Digi, Metrix AM1 Analogue, Avo 300a Analogue clamp, Hold peak 1000a Digital clamp, Megger Insulation tester, Robin Loop tester, Di-Log MFT, Test-um Cable tracer & Martindale Socket tester.

You can never have too much test kit. If I could only keep one item out of all the stuff I currently have (bench or portable) it would be my analogue Bradley.

I never had a shock through a neon either (unless the toerags I worked with swapped the resistor for a lower rated one!), and still use one. the H/S concerns are utter rubbish. went to a job once where a light would not turn off, soon diagnosed a nailed switch wire (rentokil had been doing woodworm treatment upstairs) .Took the bulb out and went over the nailheads with a neon, took about 5 mins to find it! (TRS- no earth wire) pulled the nail, repaired the cable and out the door.
Phil

Know the Neon tester debate is old hat now & NIC inspectors don't want you useing them etc etc but i've just been on the NIC website shop. In said shop they've got Proffesional Insulated Tool kits & Insulated Driver kits, most with nice NEON screwdrivers enclosed. So it's ok for them to sell them to an Electrician but not for said Electrician to use them ? Double standards methinks.

It is a measuring and very useful test instrument. There are many types of multimeter. They have several settings for each type of meter and also have additional features such as transistor testing, ranges and frequency. I think, digital multimeter is the best multimeter. This is very easy to use and also the cheapest for testing simple projects.

Sorry: Don't quite understand your reply or it's relevance to the topic to be honest we all know about Multimeters, most of us use them on a Daily basis. As for the DMM being being the best then that would depend on what your testing & if you have any experience using an Analogue meter for testing, there are some jobs where a Digital multimeter is no match for an Analogue.

That is true slightly different job but telecom guys use analogue testers for some tests still
