hi all im seeking some advice on what to do next, I have been in the electrical industry for a while but have enrolled onto a collage with my current employer to gain my NVQ level 3. My current employer is not providing me with the scope of work to gain the evidence require for the portfolio side of things so its not looking like il be able to complete the NVQ before I relocate from Oxford to Cornwall in the next couple of months. I have completed all the collage side of the course but only have the portfolio side to complete, In anyones experience what options do i have to get this completed without having to go through another employer as I cant see myself working for another company and have full intentions on setting up my own business but will obviously need to get the NVQ completed.

Thanks in advance

Is this an apprenticeship or are you paying yourself through college?

You could work as a self employed subby either working direct for a contractor or agency work
Obviously you would be working as a mate or trainee with this route with your current quals until your nvq and am2 is completed

This is a collage so I would need to collect my certificates like my 18th and all the others but not sure what to do about the portfolio side of things

It doesn't really matter if you are employed or self employed as long as you are working with / for someone who can supervise your work if necessary and you can produce the required evidence for your portfolio

I have worked with some who have done their complete portfolio as a self employed subby
