Hello all, this is my very first post on the forum, so replies with some handy tips on linking, quoting and pointers on some handy features on the site will be gratefully received.
My name is Dave, I am 32 years old and I am based in Sussex and, like lots of you guys, I am studying whilst trying to make inroads to a new career path. For a nation that is 'crying out for skilled labour', it does seem to be an epic struggle to gain employment in this sector, despite being willing (again like most of you) to re-locate my whole family geographically in order to find the holy grail!!
My current job (undertaker) doesn't allow for me to attend college, day or evening, so my only option was to take up a distance learning course (Train 4 Trade Skills)in Oct 2010. Its been slow going but I'm on the cusp of sitting my final 2330 level 2 exams. In some ways I wished that I had changed my job first for a 9-5 so I COULD do college evenings, to regularly immerse myself with like-minded people and the expertise of the tutors.
I wish all of you luck and a flourishing electrotechnical career
