With the RCD's on everything now I put a double pole switch or switched spur in outside lighting circuits to provide isolation in case a fault happens at an inconvenient time taking out other lights on the same MCB also can be used for resetting continuous on or built in timer functions

The beauty of the two gang is if the pir plays up (as they do) you can isolate it and still have the convenience of the manual lamp. This is my preferred method, and as has been said is easier for maintenance.
