I have been asked to carry out an installation on a property that is undergoing complete refurbishment. I am not required to supply the parts but have been asked if I wouldn't mind recommending the spec for some items.
The first thing I have noticed is that the plans that have been provided show that this is going to be a VERY "Downlighter/Dimmerswitch HAPPY" installation.
14 recessed downlighters (ground floor) to include 4 in hallway, 6 in kitchen and 2 in a small room in a flat roof extension.
17 recessed downlighters (1st floor) to include 4 in bathroom bath and shower cubicle, 3 on landing, 2 in bed 1, 4 in bed 2 and 4 in office.`
It's requested that two units will need to be a recessed downlighter with extractor fan incorporated into the unit.
Whilst I have installed a few IP rated downlighters in bathrooms I have not had many dealings with different brands so I would like to ask what forum members prefer to install that comply with current regulations and are easy to work with? Whilst my day rate has been agreed I do not want to be spending hours messing about with fiddly connections in upmpteen million junction boxes that have to be strategically positioned to still remain "Accessible"
Also, in the kitchen it has been requested that a supply be provided for TWO single ovens that will be positioned next to each other. I have asked what sort of power rating these appliances will be but this will remain undecided until a much later date. My question regarding this is, how on earth do I decide to what to wire the circuit with lol. It has been asked that I just go for the maximum load but surely TWO 10mm cables will be way over the top? and the cost will be ridiculous especially as they may well turn up with two units that only require a 13Amp connection? :rofl:
