Discuss Replace Old RCDs? in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

I have several old RCDs. A couple of sockets in the garage and an old Powerbreaker adaptor. How do I tell if these are the old type which need to be replaced?

Either BS number or rating. BS number should be somewhere on device and should be BS4293 or BS61008. Rating should be on the device somewhere and should be 30ma. Anything that mentions voltage operated MUST be replaced.

Cheers

The ancient Powerbreaker adaptor has no BS numbers, but does say 30ma. I think these early ones only had rudimentary protection, which would be nowhere near today's standards. Funnily enough I can't see any BS numbers on the outside of a recent Powerbreaker socket in the conservatory which was installed by a reputable electrician and I am sure it is OK. Surely these compliances would normally be prominent on the outside?

Socket will be marked on the inside.
