International Access Powered Federation (IPAF) is the reconised licnece in the construction industry. If you contact Nationwide Access they will give you the costs but i think it's in the region of £250-300 for the course.

i will only be using it by my own so no threat to any one else

I realise this is an ancient (!) thread, but it is in fact called the Powered Access Licence (PAL). It is administered by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF). So technically it is a PAL card and logbook from IPAF.

There are also inspections required under statute law that have to be undertaken by a person competent to do so.
These don't come cheap either.

What are you on about now?? All the OP need s to get is an IPAF ticket for the required category which lasts for 5 years and crack on. Statute law??

Unless I have completely misunderstood the response and he wants to OWN and Operate under his OWNERSHIP a machine, but that wasn't / isn't, my interpretation of the enquiry here.

Await to be scolded now, lol.

I find that if you use one machine you are better off having the ticket for the two different types 3a,3b as it is cheaper and easier to do the course for both at the same time.
