I'm looking for some computer software that does your room plans for rewires, I'm not sure that such software is available but thought i'd ask.
I have drawn them by had and to scale but would like it to look more professional. I don't know if something like auto cad is what i need.

It would depend on what you are using the drawings for and what accuracy and quality you require and also what you are looking to spend AutoCAD is good but is expensive, TurboCAD is a cheaper alternative with a lot of the functionality of AutoCAD other than that Visio or similar may be the way to go

Depends partly on whether you have a PC or a MAC but if you Google for free CAD packages for your platform and you'll see there are quite a few opensource/freeware ones out there. I've tried a few and they all have their faults. I ended up using MS Visio with some (free) electrical templates.

google SEE software. the free download you want is "building electrica".

If it's just for a concept drawing to show the customer then Google Sketchup is free. If you need QS features to assist you with the pricing and purchasing then AutoCAD but you'll need to budget a couple of weeks to get familiar with it.
