i am currently a sole trader, after leaving a bigger company. i am a fully qualified electrician with C&G level2+3, 17th, 2377, 2391 and am now thinking about doing the NVQ3. i was told that with the NVQ all your work must be countersigned by another level 3 electrician....is this true? is there no way to complete this unless working with someone else?

hi there, yes true there must be 2 sorces of evidence, however if you have on site inspections your inspectors will be nvq3 qualified and that is part of evidence.

If you have the 2391 you can do the NVQ3 with Delta Electrical training who don't do site visits - the 2391 somehow removes that requirement.

site visits arnt mandatory, i am doing mine with quickstep who have the same option but they require that your work is inspected by someone else, using your supervisor as an assesor i think please correct me if wrong

do you think they check every signature on the forms and then check how qualified they are, they'll not get paid enough to do that.

As sole Trader to be honest you need bugger all. If you do NVQ3 you will be assessed as part of the course by a suitably qualified NVQ assessor, I am not an expert on these matters yet, but Widdler is and so is IQ so await their replies.

Cheers........Howard
