No sparky school is an irritating saying, I agree it almost devalues you.You aint been to Sparky School then Westy
Not as far as I am aware, mind you I was qualified by thenWasent it refered to as the first year block release that the E.I.T.B did in the 70s
gaffer was the chief electrician in the film world. think this is where the term gaffer tape originated. In the distant past did a bit of film/TV work and the head electrician was called the Gaffer, you used to see it on the credits and that is what a Gaffer was, I expect it is just electrician now. So what about Gaffer School sounds 'arder than Sparky School.
Yeah just Googled it and it makes reference to the film world.gaffer was the chief electrician in the film world. think this is where the term gaffer tape originated.

OK but had they attended Sparky School, that phras really got up my nose as you ca guess from my constant reference, I'll get over it, maybe. The heirachy for Electrical in the film world would be -
1. Gaffer
2. Best Boy/Key Grip
3. Electricians
