Hi all
i have been asked to look at an install for a plumber friend which incorporates 3 zone valves including one for ufh, I'm ok with wiring everything (s-plan) apart from the ufh it's in 2 zones and has 2 stats and its own wiring centre. The stats are 24v,how are these wired to the zone valve in fact how is a low voltage system wired to a 230 v system am I being stupid here?

I think you mean extra low voltage & low voltage the ones that i worked on had a control box for all the extra low voltage controls there were indicator lamps on it which came on to tell you which parts were on which had a permanent live , neutral & earth from a fused spur which controlled a single channel programmer the control box had the two extra low voltage stats wired into it together with the additional pump. the switch line came from the heating motorised valve from the boiler together with a permanent live from the boiler the 2 solonoid valves which were controlled by the stats were also wired into the control box thus doing away with the additional valve so the underfloor heating would not come on unless the heating valve was calling for heat the extra valve in my opinion gives you more flexibility There should be a complete wiring diagram with all of this as no two systems seem to be the same. the manufacturers should be able to help with this The additional valve is wired to activate the boiler & zonal kit so that it works independently of the radiator circuit. Hope this helps in someway the control box had 2 circuits present so care was needed to isolate it I did not install this system only to fault find a problem that had occurred
