I want to install a flashing beacon to a telephone so when it rings it flashes, the terminations on the beacon are + - and a switch symbol and the telephone socket is a extension with two wires

Was the beacon made to work directly on a telephone system or is it just a beacon you picked up from the local car shop? Did it come with any instructions? Does it say on it what voltage it's designed to operate with?

think you need something to work on about 70V -90V A.C.

The fact it's got a + and - symbol on the wiring makes me suspicious it's for use on a car or van with DC supply and not directly from the 75volts AC used for ringing current. Hopefully the OP comes back with more info.
