I'd just like to thank the switch board designer/ manufacturer for not thinking about the electrician who has to some how terminate all these cables with this amount of space.. Only one way to find out I suppose

First thing about modern designers is 90% of them have never built anthing themselves .......I speak from experience and I'd love to meet some of the people who actually roadtest some of the equipment I've worked with in this trade and engineering!

Went to elex a couple of years ago and a CU manufacturer called us over to look at their domestic Cu which according to them was designed by installers! They said it was the best thought out Cu ever and if I could find fault with it there was a chance of a free Ipad
16 genuine critiscism's later I walked away never did get my Ipad!

Having been through the process, I've always thought that undergraduate Engineers should spend a year on 'The Tools' to get enlightenment on the practical side of things.
They would be all the more better for it.

I'd agree the best Engineers and Designers I've met were always the ones who had worked their way up. ....
I worked on one job where we watched the Engineers (all degree qualified none had ever, by their own admission got their hands dirty)
supervise a new jig process for a robot welding cell, the shop foreman was protesting that it wouldn't work and they didn't have time to test it as the cell would be out of production for the rest of the day.
Nobody would listen he even explained why he thought this...
Fast forward one hour and the component is stuck in the jig with parts welded over all 14 release clamps, they thought they could clamp the main sections in and the design had parts which slotted into place afterwards, designed for ease and to speed up production!
The resulting scrap metal was fixed to the wall of their office on the night shift but was taken down very quickly next morning

Been there, done that plenty of times lol...

The designer should be made to work with some of the items they design...no room at all!!...

What is the panel for?...

After me moaning about a designer the company sent all new graduates out on plant for a couple of months to see life at the sharp end.

The down side, guess who they were always partnered with. No wonder I’m bad tempered, they drove me nuts! Totally impractical.
I did get something out of it, a couple of them were **** hot at PLC programming.
