Upstairs lights blown

About a week ago when I turned on the bedroom light (loft conversion)
there was a BANG from the light fitting right up in the vaulted ceiling.

All the lights in that room are now off and it also affects a second light on the stairs fed from the same 2 gang switch.

we have an old rewritable fuse board with a single upfront RCD that didn’t trip.

My wife is now saying that she wants to get an electrician in to fix it.
however, today I have made a start, I went out and found an old card of fuse wire in case I need it.

she thinks I should be taking this more seriously but it’s Sunday morning and I have only had one coffee and no bacon sandwiches yet.

any advice on how to handle this?
I am running out of reasons why it can’t be done right now,
I am not part P registered so any work I do at home is surely considered DIY.

what I need is a professional opinion that tells me it’s just not suitable for a home owner to attempt such a complex fault finding as a DIYer.
or possibly an emergency breakdown called in from somewhere .
or at a push maybe a bacon sandwich.

I think it should be likes, posts and not being a complete penis. Not quite sure how that would be regulated though ... Sorry for hijacking the thread James!

Perhaps some reason, but fairly light on wisdom. I don't see the latter as being a problem, but the esteemed tag appears to impart special status and it's not good when abject nonsense is posted under the tag.

On the old system there used to be a tag which people got if they were deemed to have been useful/helpful/friendly etc. Can't remember what it was called, but I used to have it, god knows how

The problem with just using purely number of posts to get a specific tag is that it’s not a true basis of “good advice”

There are some on here where 50% if not more of their posts are either arguing or just repeating their side of an argument over and over…
Not constructive.

It may be the number of “likes” or “informative” etc reactions the user receives.

That's how the old badge used to work. It wasn't just based on post count. Can't remember what is was called - anybody else remember? It's bugging me now.

Surely every member is respected. It sounds ever so cliquey. I think in the current times when everybody should be totally equal, denoting who's 'respected' it a bit cheeky. It used to be called "Elite Member" - Christ, imagine if we had that these days?!?!?! On TilersForums.com it's now...
